Frequently and not so Frequently Asked Questions

This FAQ section refers to the sailing trips, usually leaving from St John, with Jason and Lou aboard Survivan. For power boats trips and other sailing trips that where set up through us please call for any questions 340-998-9898
Is there shade on board?
Yes, we have a full bimini that covers the entire cockpit. If you want sun you can have that too as the front of the boat is not covered and is a great place to hang out.
Where will we go to snorkel?
We have many different incredible snorkel stops around St. John. We choose which ones to go to according to conditions. We also take requests.
Is there anything in the water that can hurt me?
As long as you snorkel responsibly you will be fine. The rule when you are snorkeling is not to touch anything. This rule is mainly to protect the coral. We have no aggressive or dangerous fish where we snorkel. The Virgin Islands are about the safest place to snorkel and the most beautiful. We offer snorkel stops for every level of snorkeler.
"Can those sea urchins shoot there spikes out at you?" (Keanu Reeves)
No
Will I have a snorkel guide?
Yes, one of us will get in the water with you. Both Lou and I are very experienced snorkelers and have a comprehensive knowledge of the reef ecosystems around St John. As your snorkel guide we are happy to answer any questions you have about what you are seeing down there.
Where do you pick up?
For sailing trips to Jost Van Dyke aboard Survivan we pick up in Cruz Bay, St John on the beach in front of a restaurant called High Tide. You can't miss it.
For all our other sails on Survivan including full-day, half-day, and sunsets, we pick up on the beach in front of the Westin Resort on St John. You can park at the Westin or it's even better to take a cab, walk down to the beach and if you are facing the water we pick up on the far left hand side of the beach by the jet skis.
We'll let you know if we need to customize our pick up point for the trip. Or call us at 340-998-9898 if you have any questions.
What do we bring?
Bring towels, cameras, sunscreen, and snorkel gear if you have it. We have some snorkel gear on the boat but to insure a good fit we suggest that you bring your own gear. Snorkel gear can also be rented on the beach where we pick up.
Can I plug in my i-pod?
Yes, we have speakers in the cockpit and can play your music.
Do you have any pets on-board?
We both love animals but we choose not to have animals on board due to unknown allergies, cleanliness, and passenger safety.
Do you offer discounts for kids?
We love kids and enjoy having them aboard Survivan, however, we feel that everyone requires different levels of attention, aid, and assistance regardless of age. Also the cost guard regulates how many people we can carry on our boat during a commercial charter, this is why we must charge the same for everybody.
What's the weather like down there? The weather channel website says rain everyday for St John.
There is always a chance for rain while we're out there but generally if they are predicting less than %70 chance of rain then it's going to be a beautiful day.
